I'm an American student living Aarhus, Denmark, doing my PhD in religion and cognition. I am not a particularly religious person in the conventional sense, though I might be described as "spiritual" depending on how you define it. Before I came here I lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for five years, and I still think of it as home-- despite the fact that I don't really think of myself as a Texan, and no one here seems to think that either.

I'm a lazy, somewhat hedonistic person who is often pretentious and prone to being too blunt about things or taking things too lightly or too seriously depending on what situations require. I drink too much and sleep late and don't go swimming or cycling as often as I should. The things in the second sentence might change, but those in the first probably won't. I'm trying to be a realist about my condition.

I care a lot about political issues, but frequently don't know what I am talking about or when to shut up. But then, virtually everything is a political issue these days, so I'm trying to at least learn more about the issues that matter most to me-- such as the Drug War, which I think should end immediately though no one seems to notice it anymore. I used to be outrageously liberal, then dyed-in-the-wool libertarian, and now I don't particularly think of myself as fitting into any category. It's too simplistic in a very complicated atmosphere.

I have my own law: "Rillion's Law: The amount of knowledge a person has about a particular subject is inversely proportional to his or her tendency to make universal, authoritative statements about it."
